A 1927 catalogue from Thomas Green & Co, Bilston shows a 2 gal version of this cistern photographed on the bottom right. It is clear that was cistern was designed as a similar copy of the well known Shanks Levern cistern, fortunately, this cistern possesses most of the many strengths as the original Shanks Levern cistern, and my fingers are crossed that it'll last another lifetime. The original retailer of this cistern is unknown, only that they were based in Bath, and that Rowe Bros & Co, the largest firm in the area named these cisterns as "The Brandon".

1970 Valor-Lawley Wall Hung Cast Iron High Level Toilet Cistern = £300

The cistern, syphon and float valve have been fully cleaned up & reconditioned. The entire cistern has been primed in red Oxide primer ready to paint. The cistern has been tested, set up to flush & the float valve checked. A full pass. So is ready to be fitted as it is. A good strong reliable flush on each pull.
The cistern is believed to date from around 1970, one of the last cast iron cisterns that were manufactured. Seen on a Frank Love Ltd Catalogue from 1970, and no logo present on this Lawley pattern cast iron cistern. Just B.F (Britannia Foundry). Valor took over the foundry from 1969.

(SOLD) 1954 Low Level Howsons White Earthenware Toilet Cistern - 2.5 Gal & Right Lever = £280

The cistern has been tested for leaks, fitted with a Part 1 float valve that has been reconditioned and houses an antique brass WC syphon with a standard size 1 1/2" outlet. Good reliable flush + original lever. Please note that this cistern isn't reversible, however similar low level cisterns with a left hand lever + inlet are available.

1950 Low Level Alfred Johnson 306 White Earthenware Left Hand Toilet Cistern = £280

The cistern has been tested for leaks, fitted with a Part 1 float valve that has been reconditioned and houses an antique brass WC syphon with an old size outlet of 2" (1 3/4" internal measurement). Good reliable flush + original lever. Syphon flushes 2 gal at present, a top rubber washer on the piston can be provided to flush entire cistern if specified. Please note that this cistern isn't reversible, however similar low level cisterns with a right hand lever + inlet are available.

1900s Lambeth Brass & Iron Co 'Tidal Wave Syphon' High Level Cistern = £550

The cistern, syphon and float valve have been fully cleaned up & reconditioned. All original surviving fittings retained and reused. The entire cistern has been primed in Red Oxide primer ready to paint. The cistern has been tested, set up to flush & the float valve checked. Although the flush isn't quite as powerful as modern cisterns, it is a full pass. So is ready to be fitted as it is.
Cistern required the original float valve ball & arm to work. Reused & Refitted with modern pattern Part 1 Float valve. As reflected in the price, this is now a very rare high level cistern, originally rivaling cisterns manufactured by Bolding & Thomas Crapper. Last heard of in use in Lewes Station up until 1990. This survivor was found alongside other various cisterns in a local scrapyard in Norwich, purchased as a job lot for restoration, this example was likely last in use in the 1960s - 1980s.
